I went through a period of drawing nothing but crows for about two years. I really love them and enjoyed this drawing period immensely. The problem I had was that I just couldn’t get enough high quality images in the poses I wanted. I tried taking photos myself but I don’t have the kit to do that. Anyway, I bought an iPad and the rest is history!

Interestingly, a guy I know really loved these and asked to buy a print. I told him they were £80 for A2 and he got really angry, calling me a rip-off merchant and that I was scamming him. Needless to say, I told him where to go!

I drew these with an ordinary pencil, but also I used graphite powder. You can mix it with a little linseed oil to create really deep blacks, then brush it on like paint.

No one understands the quality in original art, what’s involved, and how much time goes into it. Those are very detailed drawings, to say the least. Very good work. 😎

Follow your passion. People do not understand that art is the same as other project that one does for someone…if you did a similar task, they would be willing to pay the money you asked…
I used to draw and paint individual cards, and people would say oh I’ll pay you for them .. how much did the materials cost…card pencils paint..They have no idea about the price of anything.. I just told them a ‘base rate’… and they still complained.

Totally understand. People do not want to pay for art

A2 is a decent sized print is it not, maybe if it was a 4×6, 80 pounds would seem steep.

It’s a big print yeah and I get them done premium quality. With postage I probably make about half that in profit.
