A huge reason why I chose to retire from education was my burning ambition to spend more time in my own art and creativity. I reckon I have a few years left in me yet and so I want to spend time creating art. I’ve always wanted to do it, but I couldn’t afford to do it for financial reasons. Anyway, the stars have aligned and I’ve taken the plunge.

What I need to teach myself is how to approach my new career as an artist more gently and slowly then I have tackled things in the past. I tend to rush in and become obsessed, and I’m telling myself every day to savour things slowly and enjoy them.

So I’ve began painting digitally and putting works in my online store and on the Saatchi website. My oeuvre at present is flowers and the natural world. I hope you like them and, hopefully take the plunge and buy a print. I’ve had a few printed myself and they look fabulous! Here are a few examples.

There are more pieces on my website www.paulcarneyarts.com and there’s 20% off for a limited time.
