Some of my lovely stuff

What does your ideal home look like?

If you fill your home with things you love, it will never go out of fashion. You’ll never get bored of it because it’s built on love.” Keith Brymer-Jones

My ideal home is full of books and objects that interest me, such as: fossils, shells, toys, models, stuffed animals, and vintage ornaments. I’d have plants and guitars everywhere, and there would be good natural lighting and warmth from the sun. The reason my home isn’t like that is because I have a wife, and her tastes are not the same as mine. She likes bright colours, modern fabrics, and a contemporary feel. Books, toys, and ornaments are not her thing, so we have to compromise. That’s okay. I have an office, come man-cave, and an art studio at the bottom of the garden, so I have plenty of space to put my things. This is one of the skills you need to live in harmony with another person, I think. You choose things you both love and compromise on things you don’t. My wife has converted the other spare bedroom into a dressing room, complete with wardrobes and a dressing table, etc. She has her space, I have mine, and our shared spaces are built around things we both like. This is what my ideal home looks like. A place of love. ❤️

Not sure if I would feel comfortable surrounded with two or three memento mori! They look impressive though.
