Why isn’t life easy? If a God created life, why make it so difficult? I mean, if you were omnipotent, and you were designing life, surely you’d make it so that things ticked over nicely, you’d want them to purr along and be as easy as possible. Why make it so that things have to struggle? Why would you deliberately make it tough to survive?

In order to be dynamic, the system you created would have to be built on elementary, dynamic forces. These Forces would have to be powerful enough to create, mould and shape the system you wanted. For example, volcanoes provide heat, energy and solid rock. Earthquakes move, shape of form the Earth. Winds carry and distribute resources. The Sun heats, and energise life. Water and tides replenish and rejuvenate. The dynamics behind physical matter need to be robust and forceful enough to create and sustain life. They can’t be any other way. It follows therefore, that life itself has to be able to endure these physical forces and adapt to them in order to survive. It is the fact that the earth needs these dramatic, energetic systems in order to function, that makes life tough.

Life’s Rollercoaster Ride

If there were no dynamic forces, there would be no conflict, and everything would grow unrestrained and unfettered. Pretty soon, the system would collapse, due to overload. Conflict and competition ensure populations do not grow exponentially and so drain limited resources. These are natures way of ensuring balance, however hard it may seem. Life must have limits. If things were endless they could not have an end, and if no end then no beginning.

This is why life sometimes seems tough. We are on the greatest rollercoaster ride ever invented. It’s only natural it’s going to be scary sometimes, but we keep going just to enjoy the thrill of the ride.

This is deep, profound and very well written, insightful as well.
I’ve struggled with this question so many times. Thank you for this meaningful explanation.
