How do you use social media?

I don’t use social media much at all these days. I can’t stand it to be honest. The world seems full of people ranting and raging about injustice, espousing all manner of ill informed rubbish and peddling their wares. The vitriol is awful. It certainly isn’t a pleasant place.

A few years ago, I became Twitter friends with Professor Alice Roberts, Professor Janina Ramirez and Waldemar Januszack the Sunday Times art critic. Alice wrote the foreword for my first book, and I’ve worked professionally with all of them. Alice and I are planning to do another drawing workshop, whenever she gets time in her hectic schedule.

However, I came off Twitter when Elon Musk allowed all of the right wing nutters back on. I just won’t support that kind of hatred, and I won’t compromise my values. I’m sad that I don’t ‘speak’ to some of the people on there, but I don’t miss social media. I have had many unpleasant arguments with people, and I find it triggers my anxiety enormously.

Instead, I have become a happy, contented blogger. It enables me to write my thoughts down and be part of a wonderful community of fellow bloggers who are positive thinking, happy and creative. I like that.

One of my drawings. The Twitter logo being overcome by warring types of bacteria.
