I spent almost thirty years in education, predominantly teaching art and design. During that time, I built a website www.paulcarneyarts.com to offer free advice to teachers on the teaching of art and design. It became hugely successful and it has had millions of visitors from all over the world in the last 20 years. My work has been recommended by the UK’s leading teacher training organisations, and the NSEAD the national society for education in art and design, for whom I was an elected council member for many years. I was proud to be considered one the country’s leading experts in my subject until my retirement last year. Everyone who knew me said I’d never be able to stop working, that I couldn’t possibly retire. Now they are surprised at how well I’ve taken to it. I don’t miss working at all, and I hope very soon to be an expert in retirement. 😂
