What makes a teacher great?

A great teacher is someone who has something worthwhile to say, and who can inspire pupils to want to learn it. This isn’t about doing a performance, or putting on theatrics, it’s as much about discipline as it is about inspiration. No one teacher’s personality suits all pupils way of learning anyway. And so, what makes a ‘great’ teacher differs from pupil to pupil. Even then, you can’t be great every day in every way. Being passionate about your subject, connecting with your pupils’ needs, and the resilience to get back in the classroom after you fail, are all qualities you’ll need to teach.
