In 2010 I recorded an album of my own songs, using what was then state-of-the-art software in GarageBand and Logic Pro. Everything was either played and recorded by me, or built from samples. The vocals were done by singing into the in-built microphone on my Mac, because I couldn’t get the compression right on my studio mics. I put towels over my head and taped sponges over the tiny inputs! Listening to them now, I’m incredibly proud that I did it all myself, in my living room, with no help from anyone. I even did all the artwork and photography!
