What public figure do you disagree with the most?
It used to be common for politicians to resign if they were caught lying. John Profumo resigned in 1963 after lying to parliament about his affair. Yet, Boris Johnson lied to parliament repeatedly about parties at number 10 during Covid lockdown and refused to resign. It took the enormous pressure of his own MP’s resigning in protest, the like of which I have never seen in my lifetime, before he did. This is the new way in politics. You lie. You say whatever you need to say to win, and afterwards you just cover up, or bluster your way through it.
Nigel Farage lies. He promised us 350 million for the NHS if we voted Brexit, then backtracked on it after he won, saying he never said it, despite it being on his campaign buses. ‘Not my buses,’ he lied after his victory.
He lied about Syrian refugees. He said the Gulf States refused to take them, yet the records show they have taken in millions.
He lied about the EU, saying it is unelected. It isn’t, and he should know, he was an elected Euro MEP for ten years. He said 70% of our laws were made by the EU. It was a lie, only an estimated 13% were.
He repeatedly lies about climate change and the UK’s net zero carbon emission targets. Why? His political party Reform are funded by the oil industry to the tune of 2.3 million.
He has lied about Muslims, and has been fact checked 14 times by Full Fact and consistently shown to be lying or exaggerating.

The agenda of his party is clearly set out in their 2024 manifesto. Privatise the National Health Service as much as possible. Give tax cuts to the rich, and scrap climate change initiatives. These aren’t policies working class people typically support, yet people are voting for him in huge numbers. Why? Because of racism, and more specifically, Islamophobia. This was evidenced by a huge outpouring of unjustified hate towards Muslims in 2024 when many towns and cities experienced rioting over three little girls that were callously murdered by a sick individual in Southport. Innocent Muslims were attacked, their businesses trashed, by ignorant thugs who masqueraded under the banner of ‘justice’. It was sickening.
Reform has just had huge victories in local, council elections in England recently and they might just continue with this surge in political power until they are elected as our new government. If it happens, I for one will not Reform.
