I have had many happy holidays camping. When I was recently divorced I was unable to take my two kids on expensive holidays, I bought a second-hand tent and some stoves, and we went camping. I had the genius idea of letting them bring a friend each too. This ensured they always had someone to play with. A mate lent me his inflatable dinghy and we would go the Lake District in England. I had so many fabulous trips away with those kids. People used to see the mayhem of my car when setting off and think I was mad, but it was pure fun from the get go. They are memories I will always treasure. Later on, I took them abroad on holiday and it was good, but nothing beat the fun and excitement of camping. They are grown up now and whenever we are together, talk of camping comes up. Memories are made of this.
