What is your favorite restaurant?

I don’t go to restaurants. I live on a modest retirement income, so I can’t afford them. However, I’ve never been a foodie and am slightly irritated by all those people who drool over tiny portions of weird vegetables. I like to cook and to home bake, and prefer my own, low-fat fake-aways to the real thing. My stomach cannot digest the heavy fats and rich sauces that are ubiquitous in restaurants anyway. In the north of England we are known for being plain, simple eaters and that is me down to a T. Give me pies, gravy, Yorkshire puddings, stews, baked potatoes, and casseroles any day of the week. I also like to go meat free as often as I can, and use veggie mince, and soya-based chicken most weeks. In almost every respect however, I’m a simple, boring eater, and I like it that way.

My heart friendly carrot cake, baked using oil not butter, and low calorie sweeteners. It’s an occasional treat!
