What do you wish you could do more every day?
I used to always be rushing around. Hyperactive. Always working, always busy, always something on my mind, always trying to do one last thing before bed, always up early and ‘on it’. I never focussed properly on what I was doing. I ate quickly, never savouring and enjoying food. I rushed things: ‘a job half done, was a job worth doing’. At 60 I was diagnosed with ADHD and it made so much sense.
These days, now I’ve retired and understand my condition better, I don’t need to be in such a state. And so, I’ve found I have time to do things, and when I do them, I do them slowly and enjoy the process, even if it’s a mundane one, like painting a fence.
To answer the question, I don’t need to wish for something I could do more of every day. I have all the time I need because I make the most of what I’ve got and do it mindfully.
