My new novel is finally in the Amazon bookstore. It’s only taken me over 15 years to get it to this point! I wrote and re-wrote it several times during this period, pushed it one side, abandoned it, then picked it up again. The characters have lived inside my head for so long and I honestly love them all so much. Anyway, when I retired from education I decided to get it across the finish line and publish it myself. Amazon publishing makes it so easy anyway, so it was a no-brainier really. The only difficult thing I found from not having a publisher publish my books was not having the copywriting editing role. The editor really puts your book through the mangle, critiquing it and pointing out your many mistakes. Anyway, it’s out there now and I’m proud of it.
Here’s a synopsis of the book:
A dying old woman has her brain uploaded into robotic insect and, with the help of a despotic child computer, must battle an army of mutant crows to save the earth.
Margaret Trewhitt hadn’t wanted any of this. She had spent years comatosed in a care home, waiting, hoping and praying for death. Now, thanks to a crazy child-like supercomputer, she found herself stuck in the body of a robotic insect, travelling across the world to confront an army of psychopathic crows. She had a wealth of weaponry and technology at her disposal, but she wouldn’t need any of that. Her strategy was to get everyone around a table and thrash it out over a nice hot cup of tea. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? She was already dead and spending time with this little brat of a computer was worse than her arthritis. The only up-side was getting to fly on her motorised scooter Flossy; that was so long as she stuck to safe altitudes and sensible speeds. No, if it really was up to her to save the world, she would do it her way or not at all.
